No more squeaky-ness from the violin thanks to this bow

Thanks so much Rhiannon, we received the bow this morning and it is wonderful. All that squeaky-ness is all resolved so we are super happy with our purchase!

Thanks also for the luggage tag, [my daughter] was tickled with that!

Such a hard time right now with Covid, my goodness! Hope you all stay healthy!

Happy with the carbon bow

On first inspection, the bow seems nice. It's weight is good, sometimes carbon fibre bows seem a bit heavy.

This one is somewhere between my pernambucco bow and my other carbon fibre bow.

It is straight from end to end and very nicely finished.

It has good balance, a speck closer to the frog that my other bows.

In profile, it has slightly less curve towards the tip. I tend to prefer that, although I can't say exactly why.

My orchestra is performing tomorrow, so the coloured bow is going to go public.

One advantage of burgundy over bright red is that it will not draw as much attention to itself as red would. So when the bow makes a mistake I won't be as noticed.

These are great for kids

I am sure my granddaughter will especially love the coloured bow!

The girls will love these bows!

I was searching for tips to my bowing struggles, and found your site to be the most helpful!!!

Then I found you had colored bows, which will be great Christmas presents for my two granddaughters.

They have been asking for pink violins, which I couldn't bring myself to getting. But purple bows are perfect!!!!!!!

Great bow that came quickly in the mail

Just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that we received the bow in great condition today.

Not bad, 1 week to go clear across the country!!

My daughter really liked the carbon bow and was very excited to see it.

She also was really excited to get the little violin pin you included. She said its going on her book bag.

Thanks again for the quick service! We will be keeping an eye on your site, especially as my daughter grows into bigger fiddles!!

Better sound quality and workmanship

I love the bow. It is much nicer than my other one- it has better sound quality and doesn't sound as scratchy.

The bow is also very light which will be useful when playing high-tempo pieces.

I appreciate the fine quality and workmanship that has gone into the making of the bows.

I hope to purchase more violin equipment from Fiddle Heads again. Thanks!

Now I have two carbon bows

I like it a lot. I will use this carbon bow on my new fiddle and the other carbon with my second fiddle.

Thanks. Pleased to do business with you.

Lovely and responsive

I thought it would be perfect if the bow would arrive the day before my daugther's lesson later this week.

Much to our surprise, the bow arrived today! Wow, that's lightening fast! Thanks to Fiddleheads for getting it here so promptly.

Player and bow are still getting to know each other, but first impressions are very good. It sounds lovely, and seems very responsive.

...The sound it makes is clearly much lovelier than the old bow.

Again, thanks to Rhiannon's efforts to get it here so quickly!

Suitable for my viola for sound

I received the bow yesterday, it's really nice and fits to my viola (in term of sound).

Thank you for the brooch, it is cute!

Much-needed replacement

It looks like a good bow.

It will be replacing a rather poor student bow my son has been using that has finally worn out.

His older sister now has a fairly good wooden bow, but a CF bow (in his favorite colour) suits him better.

Arrived in time for our group's big performance - Love them!

Yes the bows arrived on time --- in fact, they arrived on Friday night, not the following Monday!

Everyone was very happy. They are playing at the Legislative Assembly tomorrow, and are quite excited to show off their new bows.

[UPDATE] Attached is a picture of the Fiddle Cats performing at CBC just before Christmas. Notice all the lovely bows!

This bow improves my technique

I received the new bow a week ago and I love it.

I'm no expert on bows, the only one I ever played before was a piece of junk... Not only it was old, it was never a good bow. Too light, and balanced toward the frog too much. The tip had a tendency to skid sideways toward the nut, it never sat well on the strings, and the hair was never very consistent in the first place, so at the best of times it sounded like a war-time radio broadcast. But since I live in the Northwest Territories, I can't go to a luthier and try a bunch of different bows.

I had a budget of $140 to $190 to buy a new bow and took three months to make a decision.

I picked this one in the end based on the reviews on your site, and that you had it on sale for half the price I've seen in other places.

One of the reviews said it "feels light" and "light at the tip" but another one said it weighs 62 grams which is a good weight compared to my old one.

I figured even if it wasn't balanced as I imagined, a bow in that price range that gets positive reviews could only be an improvement over my old one. The last issue was picking the colour. I ended up with "heart of gold."

First thing I noticed when I took the new bow out of the package is that it's heavier than my old (too light) one. Second, the colour matches the website photo.

As far as playing, like I said, I'm no expert, but it sounds way better. It's louder and clearer.

It doesn't skid sideways, so that wasn't my technique that was at fault. Yay! It doesn't shake on the strings or bounce off when you try a quick attack. It doesn't make the G string buzz. Yaaaaaayyyy! First time ever that I've been able to hear my G string properly.

And you can actually pull slowly the whole length of the bow and get one unique, consistent sound the whole way. I tried it with the tuner and the needle will actually stay in one place the whole length of the bow; with the old bow it would always shake even on short pulls.

So, I'm very happy with my purchase. Now I can hear how *I* actually sound and work on my technique. I'm making progress already! On the other hand, I can no longer blame anything on the bow. :)

Also this bow is a little longer than my old one so it doesn't quite fit in the case, but that's no big deal. I would definitely recommend this bow!

Thank you so much for the prompt service despite the circumstances [regarding a family tragedy]. I will definitely think of you first for my violin needs.

It plays quite well

I like the bow.

My friend felt it was light, he's used to something heavier but said it does play quite well.
