I'm left-handed. Should I buy a left-handed violin, one that I bow with my left hand?

Traditionally, left-handed individuals do not have to play a left-handed violin.

We offer lefty violins for people who, usually due to physiological reasons (nerve damage, missing digits, damage from stroke, limited wrist rotation, etc) or a very strong preference to use the left hand cannot play violin the standard way, bowed with the dominant right hand (and the violin in the left hand).

Remember that many musicians are left-handed and play the violin the "traditional" way.

That said, there are other famous musicians (Kurt Cobain, Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendryx, Ashley MacIsaac, and many more) who have led incredible careers playing left-handed. With this understanding and seeing a strong need for properly build-left violins, we began offering them to customers.

The success rate for players who truly need these violins has been tremendous! Many of our customers attempted playing violin the traditional way and found everything "clicked into place" once they switched to one of our lefty violins.

We are proud to be a leader in left-handed violins and to have the opportunity to help so many people find success in playing the violin!
