Is this a soft or a hard case?

All of our cases are "hard" cases, meaning they have a solid structure.

This is unlike a cheaper instrument "bag" as seen on guitars, celli and other instruments. We only sell hard cases as the bags simply can't keep violins as safe as they need to be.

That said, some cases are stronger and more protective than others.

Our economy-grade and midrange cases, for example, have a rigid foam core and a fabric covering, whereas our Fiddleheads Deluxe cases are built with the rigid foam interior with an added strong shell of a multi-layer plywood exterior for far more protection. Plus the Fiddleheads Deluxe cases have more storage space and a beautiful damask silk and velvet interior.

I encourage players who do more traveling or those with more valuable instruments to upgrade to a more robust case for added safety.
