Do I need instrument polish?

As with our peg compound question, the answer depends on the age and condition of your instrument.

Our new instruments won't require a polishing for quite some time as their varnish is intact and robust. But having polish on hand can be helpful for annual maintenance down the line when the varnish needs to be spruced up.

Used instruments need the polish to protect worn down or thinning varnish from further wear and tear.

Note that because excess polish could attract more dust and dirt, we recommend you use the polish no more than once every 4-6 months, and many people set a yearly date to give their violin a nice cleanup.

Hence our pocket-sized bottle of gentle polish will last you years.
