This instrument was made in France by the J.Thibouville-Lamy workshops under the trade name "Vosgien."
Penciled writing in right f-hole reads "1713," but we estimate the instrument was made in the late 1800s or early 1900s.
Over time these originally student violins have matured and mellowed, becoming seasoned violins with character.
Very slender neck, dark mahogany varnish. Very nice scroll work. All new ebony pegs, tailpiece (with rare ivory inlay), chinrest and endpin. Authentically antiqued from age-- very beautiful older instrument.
Newly setup with new bridge and post and new Dominant strings. A unique piece for a player seeking a distinct and deep tone.
