"Nicolas Bertholini" Copy, Made in France
Size: 4/4
Condition: Used
Very nice French-made violin, estimated from late 1800's or very early 1900's.
Full label reads "NICOLAS BERTHOLINI Luthier de S. M. l'Empereur Fecit Anno 1810," but Henley's Universal Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers explains these higher-quality Mirecourt factory instruments from 1880 and beyond.
The instrument has seen a few restorations over the years but is quite a solid piece with tremendous sound and tone for the price. All new ebony fittings (with special handcrafted tailpiece with ivory fret) and Helicore strings. Rich tone and very nice, deep low end. Models in higher aesthetic condition sell for easily 3-4 times our asking price.
