My information below relates specifically to violin strings but can sometimes be used as a guide for choosing viola and cello strings. Remember to change your strings at least once a year as they stretch, thin-out and lose their tone quality much sooner than you think.
If your violin tends to sound too bright or metallic with your current strings, try warmer sounding,
gut-core strings.
If you have trouble producing a full sound then perhaps you need to try strings with a brighter sound such
as steel-wound or synthetic-core.
Experiment and mix and match string types too, you might just find that a combination of strings works
best for you. Contact me for prices on individual strings.

Blue Infeld
Synthetic |
Blue produces a bright, clear tone. Very short break-in period. Soft and long lasting.
I've never known them to fray on the A-string (such as Thomastic Dominants) and they out live many other strings in this price range.
These strings are excellent for violinists who play classical and fiddle music.
An affordable alternative to Eva Pirazzi.

Dominant
Synthetic |
Popular set with players for many years. Brilliant, responsive sound. Slow break-in period but holds a tune well later.
E-string has very bright timbre, try a Blue Infeld or Pirastro Gold or Olive E
instead if it's to bright for your violin.
