They are heavy weight but very sturdy. My son frequently dances on top of my old Canadian oblong case with no harm to the instrument inside!

Protect your investment (or your baby, as I lovingly call my fiddle) with style. These are the cases we recommend for players who want solid construction and room for all the extras we carry around with our violins. It doesn't hurt to have the thick velvet interior either...
A very strong plywood shell construction adds a bit of weight but plenty of peace of mind. Coupled with the suspension cushioning it is a far more rugged case for travel.
Thick and durable nylon canvas, heavy duty zippers, metal latch and magnetic snaps (close automatically), subway strap & bumpers, and a full-length zippered music pocket complete the exterior. The interior is finished with quality velvet, hygrometer, four bow spinners,interior compartments*, neck tie-down straps and, of course, suspension cushioning.
Includes adjustable shoulder strap and matching blanket. *A Bon Musica rest fits in the large interior compartment.

Though it's not a "hard" case, this wheeled cello bag makes up for it with 1 inch of foam padding around the exterior for extra protection. It has several exterior pockets, shoulder straps for use as a backpack and a wheel for carting it around. Dark blue exterior, black interior.
