Rhiannon started the Fiddleheads Violin Ensemble so her students and other players can have the wonderful experience of playing with a group in practice and concert.
Fiddleheads played in over 40 performances in its first first five years, which is impressive for a student group. The first set of students to play in the group in the early 2000s gained such experience as to constitute much of the core membership of the School District 83/Community Orchestra during its existence.
The student group plays a wide range of music from a Mozart quartet to a Celtic jig or old-time waltz. Since 2000 group has had over 60 members, ranging in age range from five to seventy-five.
Violin, viola, cello and bass players of all ages and skill levels develop ensemble and solo skills in this supportive group. Prepare classical, fiddle and other tunes quickly for upcoming gigs in a non-competitive environment.
The classes focus on sight-reading, technique and intonation with the goal to play a few Christmas performances.
Beginners are most welcome, the only requirement being that they are willing to participate enthusiastically and practice their parts. More advanced students will be asked to play solos.
